![]() ![]() ![]() The blue/white name tape was used sometimes, especially at training bases. Was it? Probably, but mostly I see it on eBay with obviously put together jackets. The USAF blue tape (or subdued) was never supposed to be used on flight gear. However, there are always exceptions and aircrew love to push the rules! The nametag goes on the upper left side. I did 26 years working fighters (80-06) in the USAF, so this is going to be about how it was normally done when I was in. NAME ON SCRIPT ( right breast side, blue and white ) US AIR FORCE SCRIPT ( left breast side, blue and white ) I did notice that some Air Force issue cold weather gear had the command insignia on the left shoulder but they didnt have a flag. Another said it was up to the command you were in as to flag placement. One guy said that only the Army wears the flag on the right shoulder. It seems that everybody has an opinion on the subject. I was told that the AIR FORCE insignia should be placed on the left shoulder and the American Flag should be placed on the right. Even the web research has left me clueless. I want to add the American Flag, the US AIR FORCE insignia ( old style ) and a few small patches relating to my first assignment. The jacket is long gone and I'm doing up a new one and I want to add a few morale patches to it. I had a MA1 type flight jacket while in the Air Force ( 1970 to 1980 ) and I had the blue colored ribbon type US AIR FORCE tag on left breast and Name tag on right breast. ![]()
